Midye Tava

Midye Tava are fried mussels with a paste coat around. You can order them on a spit or in a sandwich. They are quite greasy and they are served with a tarator sauce. This sauce is made with yogurt, mayonnaise, oil, walnuts, garlic and bread. In most of places where you can find kokoreç, you can also find midye tava. We can recommend Sargun Kokoreç in Kadıköy.

Kokoreç

 

Kokoreç might not be everybody's favorite food, because it is made of lamb's intestine. If you like lamb, you should have a try, because its taste is unique. You really can smell and taste the lamb while eating! They roll the intestines on a spit and grill it. After that they cut it in little pieces, mix it with tomato, green pepper and hot paprika. You can order kokoreç in a plate or as a sandwich. It goes good with ayran. You can find kokoreç in many places in Istanbul. We recommend you eat it in Kadıköy Sargun Kokoreç or Üsküdar Balaban Kokoreç.
