Cremeria Milano
Cremeria Milano offers Italian icecream which is different from the Turkish one. Italian icecream shops are not usual so it is a chance for Turkish people who wants to give a try to it. They have got special tastes like Bignolata and Tiramisu but even the common flavours like vanilla, chocolate or strawberry taste different here.
Marpop
Marpop is a place where you can eat lots of different cupcakes, icecreams and desserts which are looking splendid. The pastery shop is well decorateds and things are going well with the looking of cupcakes and sweets. It gives you a warm atmosphere and a chance for eating icecream in winter days.
Cadde Karadeniz
Cadde Karadeniz is located close to the bull statue in the center of Kadıköy. They serve typical Turkish menues and some specialities from the Blacksea area. We recommend to eat Lahana Soup, Kuymak and Pickle Roast with Corn-Flour Bread.
Old English Pub
Happy Moon's Restaurant
Happy Moon is one of the best places for having breakfast in the Anatolian side of Istanbul. It is located at the sea side and has a nice view to Fenerbahçe Marina. We hardly recommend to go and sit inside the old building which is decorated and furnished in a way that makes you feel confortable and at home. They are serving a complete dish for a breakfast with different kind of foods and limitless tea.
Kiva Restaurant
Kiva is a restaurant in Galata where they serve old and underrated Anatolian foods. You can see there foods and dishes that you can not see anywhere else in Istanbul. The place is decorated with the ceramics of Anatolian Seljuk's palace, Kubadabad. We recommend to eat Patlıcan Dizmeç (eggplant, meat, onion) , Bakla Sarması (broad bean, grape leaf, onion), Pehli (lamb, butter) Erik Yavan Sarma (dry greengage, wheat, grape leaf), Zahter Salata (parsley, pomegranate, onion) and Rahip Köfte (wheat, spinach, onion). We can also recommend this restaurant to vegetarians.
Kadıköy Çarşı
Kadıköy Baylan
Kadıköy Baylan was founded 1961 by Mihal Lenas, who's family migrated from Epir to Istanbul. It was their third Cakehouse (pastane) after having success with the other two. This place became really famous among the elite society of Kadıköy. They are still preserving their atmosphere from the 60's. They have a big choice of different sweets in their shops and everything is fresh and homemade. Their specialities are Kup Griye (vanilla, caramel, icecream, honey almond), Adisababa (parfait) and Peş Melba (croquant, icecream, peach). You can also buy ingredients to make your own cookies and cakes.

Dondurma
Compared
to other icecreams, like for example the italian one, turkish
icecream is more sticky and does not melt that fast. Due to that
fact, you can find dondurmaci making tricks with the icecream and the
cone. As your icecream does not melt fastly, you really can enjoy its
delicious taste. You can have lots of different tastes, which
you can not find in other countries, like chestnut, carob, pumpkin,
bal and carrot. We recommend to eat dondurma in Ali Usta in Moda or Yasar Usta in Bostancı. Yasar's
recipe is completely different, if we compare his icecream with other
places in Istanbul.
Sahlep
Sahlep
is
a hot beverage, which you should drink on cold winter days to warm
you. It is creamy milk, thickened with sahlep powder, which is made
of milled orchid roots. They add some sugar and cinnemon to
complement its taste. We recommend to drink it in Ali Usta in Moda. Also
you will see lots of pushcarts which are
full of sahlep in Sultanahmet.
Midye Tava
Midye
Tava are fried mussels with a paste coat around. You can order them
on a spit or in a sandwich. They are quite greasy and they are served
with a tarator sauce. This sauce is made with yogurt, mayonnaise,
oil, walnuts, garlic and bread. In most of places where you can find
kokoreç, you can also find midye tava. We can recommend Sargun Kokoreç in Kadıköy.
Midye Dolma
Midye Dolma are mussels filled with rice and spices like cinnamon, kadmon, coriander etc. Due to the spices, the rice gets a brown color. You can find Midye Dolma almost everywhere in the streets and they cost between 50 kurus and 1 lira. You put some lemon juice on it and eat it directly out of the shell. I can hardly recommend to have some of them after having a beer.
Kokoreç
Kokoreç
might not be everybody's favorite food, because it is made of lamb's
intestine. If you like lamb, you should have a try, because its taste
is unique. You really can smell and taste the lamb while eating! They
roll the intestines on a spit and grill it. After that they cut it in
little pieces, mix it with tomato, green pepper and hot paprika. You
can order kokoreç in a plate or as a sandwich. It goes good with
ayran. You can find kokoreç in many places in Istanbul. We recommend
you eat it in Kadıköy Sargun Kokoreç or Üsküdar Balaban Kokoreç.
